If you work with a spreadsheet month-in-month-out you may have noticed it slowing down . Or maybe you are getting an error message for “out of memory”, requests to update unknown links, file has too many formats or the file size just seems too large. Then try running these tools. Run periodically on your most used files to keep them running well.

MASS DELETE NAMED RANGES

Named Range Mass Delete AIRT

Similar to cell styles, named ranges often end up being copied to your spreadsheet from other files. You may end up with thousands of redundant named ranges.

Choose to delete:

♦   All named ranges
♦   Named ranges with error reference
♦   Named ranges that refer to all external workbooks
♦   Named ranges that refer to closed external workbooks
(this option lets you keep links to any files you have open in your instance of Excel)

This utility can help:

♦   Reduce file size
♦   Speed up file
♦   Stop out of memory warnings
♦   Stop requests to update external links to redundant files

MASS DELETE UNUSED STYLES

Styles Mass Delete AIRT

This reduces the number of format combinations used by the file. Thousands of unused styles can gather within a file. This happens particularly if you paste data in to a file from other spreadsheets, perhaps over several months.

♦   Reduce file size
♦   Speed up file
♦   Stop out of memory warnings
♦   Stop too many formats warning
♦   Remove unused styles (see HOME-STYLES-DROPDOWN)

 

RESET USED RANGES IN ALL WORKSHEETS

Used Range Reset AIRT

This will reliably reset the used range on every sheet.

♦   Reduce file size
